In the “Frequently Asked Questions” page on its website, SarahPac is defined as a federally registered political action committee that supports Gov. Sarah Palin’s plans to build a better, stronger, and safer America in the 21st century.
To the question of “How will contributions be spent?” Ms. Palin gives this answer:
Your support of SarahPac will make it possible for Gov. Palin to continue to be a strong voice for energy independence and reform.By supporting SarahPac, you will allow Gov. Palin to help find and create solutions for America’s most pressing problems; priority number one is building a strong and prosperous economy that recognizes hard work, innovation and integrity by rewarding small businesses and hard working American families. SarahPac will support local and national candidates who share Gov. Palin’s ideas and goals for our country.
The LA Times recently reported that the Palin PAC spent more than $63,000 on book purchases.
The National Journal reports: “The papers filed over the weekend show SarahPAC spent $47,777 on copies of “Going Rogue” during the last 6 months of the year … The FEC reports show Palin has been purchasing the book to send to donors, some of whom got a copy after contributing a certain amount to the PAC.”
However, it has been reported that in 2009, SaraPac handed out just $64,600 to candidates and party committees.
By contributing to SarahPAC, you enable Sarah to make bulk purchases of her own book, the money goes to the publisher, Sarah pockets the royalties for the book sales, and she boosts the sale of her “bestseller”.
Now, let’s see – the acronym P-A-C can also mean:
Perpetrating A Con; or
Pretty And Cunning – I can go on and on ….
